The European Statistics Competition was a different experience from my usual AI and programming contests. It focused more on statistics, data interpretation, official data sources, and explaining conclusions clearly.
I participated with my team, society, and we placed 164th. Even though this was not a top placement, the competition was valuable because it helped me practice a different kind of thinking: less about code, more about understanding data and communicating insights.
The tasks required attention to detail and the ability to interpret information correctly. In statistics, it is not enough to get a number; you also need to explain what that number means and why it matters.
ESC helped me become more comfortable with data analysis, teamwork, and evidence-based reasoning. It also connected well with my interest in AI, because good AI work depends a lot on understanding data properly.
